Standard

I am currently in my second semester of MBA studies at Chapman University. My elective for this semester is Internet & Social Media Marketing with Professor Niklas Myhr. I hope to learn how to effectively target and reach audiences online. While I am currently not working for a specific business, I will be using this blog to create awareness of my Crossfit Fly Lifestyle as well as my Jewelry Business, Emily Hormuth Originals (EH Originals)!

Crossfit has been a very important part of my life since October 2011. I had been diagnosed with severe Crohn’s Disease in April 2011. I had lost almost 25 pounds because my body was not able to absorb the nutrients from the food I ate. Once I found medication that helped put the Crohn’s into remission, I wanted my active lifestyle back and my muscle mass! I found Crossfit Fly – an all women’s crossfit gym in Newport Beach. Jill and Ali were my coaches and within a couple months of a lot of work, I started seeing results. I took it a step further and started eating based on the Whole 30. That was when I started seeing amazing results! I have since been able to reduce my Remicade Infusions from every 8 weeks to every 10 weeks and the goal is to get to every 12 weeks within 2013. Not only has my gut started healing more than with just medication, but my skin is clearer than ever, my hair grows so fast and is shinier than before, and my energy level is consistent throughout each day. This has not been an easy journey, but I have to thank my family, friends, and my boyfriend, Patton Penhallengon, for their never ending support.

With the benefits of being healthy and active again, I have had more time and energy to get back to what I love doing – designing jewelry. I have been designing jewelry for more than 6 years and love creating unique pieces women. I currently sell my designs on ETSY. I love designing pieces that highlight the raw elements of stones and minerals such as agates, quartz, and druzies. I also enjoy working with various leaves that are dipped in precious metals to preserve their form such as Kale, Birch, Elm, Maple, and Oak.

This Saturday, my sister, Elyse Hormuth & I, joined our fellow lady Crossfitters at Crossfit Fly to honor a fallen hero, Edwardo Loredo.

Let me tell you a little about “Loredo”:

6 rounds for time – (We had a time cap of 25 minutes)

24 air squats

24 push-ups

24 lunges

Run 400 meters (10x shuttle sprints)

I was able to complete 3 rounds + 48 (24 squats and 24 pushups) in 25 minutes! Wow – that was a long one.
